This book was written by Somaly Mam, and she is the author of this book. Somaly Mam is a president and spokesperson of the Somaly mam Foundation and is one of the most prolific activists fighting sexual slavery today.
Somaly was one of the founding members of AFESIP (Acting For Women in Distressing Situations)an organisation which has rescued,rehabilitated and reintegrated over 4,000 women and children since its reception in 1996.
Somaly Mam had been the recipient of several awards including "Glamour magazine" women of the year for 2006, CNN Hero, as well as recognition from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Somaly Mam is a Cambodian heroine, and is a true story about her childhood.
I highly recommend this book due to her brave,enthusiasm,generosity and determination towards helping all the young girl who's was sole by their parents as young as five or six due to their virginity.
In Cambodia, there believes virgins can cure AIDS.Throughout South-East Asia, tens of thousands of children are forced into prostitution each year. They are raped and beaten. many are killed.
Nevertheless, there still a lot of country using this method as trading and entertainment to attract business in illegal way. Please help the girls out there and reduce the number of AIDS victim especially all the young and innocence girls.
Not only is this happening in other countries, but forms of slavery are being used every day in the United States.
